Pikmin 4 Demo Save Transfer: New Players and Existing Saves
Understand the confirmed demo-transfer rule and the returning-player exception without confusing Bloom data sending with console save migration.
What has Nintendo confirmed about the new demo?
Nintendo’s November 2 notice says the Switch 2 Edition demo can carry its save data into the full version. It separately qualifies that statement for existing Pikmin 4 players. Read the qualification before deciding to replay the opening merely to prepare a launch save.
| Starting point | Confirmed transfer statement |
|---|---|
| New player starting with the new demo | Demo save data can carry to the full version |
| Already played Pikmin 4, then try the Academy demo | Only the new Academy demo data is carried over |
| Asking about conversion between two full-game editions | The demo notice does not document the full procedure |
The notice does not describe a universal merge of two story campaigns or promise a choice between every possible save. It also does not give the final full edition’s import-button sequence.
What should an existing player do differently?
Treat the new demo as a way to try Academy, not as a confirmed replacement story save. The returning-player exception is why the general phrase “demo progress transfers” needs context. Avoid deleting an existing save to force a clean import; no such step is required by the cited notice.
Before release, record which game and demo you have used and the Nintendo user associated with each. That is a preparation checklist, not a tested transfer operation. When the full edition launches on November 12, follow its Pikmin-specific prompts and Nintendo support instructions.
If you are still choosing a product, the edition decision table distinguishes the full bundle from the pack requiring the base game.
Does sending Dandori Academy Save Data move a save file?
No. In the Pikmin Bloom campaign, the similarly named setting controls transmission of qualifying gameplay information for linked gifts. It does not describe moving your console save from one game edition or system to another.
The first-claim checklist uses that setting for its documented purpose. A successful Bloom reward therefore does not demonstrate that a console save was converted.
Which transfer questions remain unanswered?
The reviewed sources do not establish the final full-game overwrite prompts, a reverse conversion back to the original Switch version, or every region-and-format combination. A general Nintendo FAQ contains a save-carryover answer for a Zelda title; it is not Pikmin-specific proof.
Use demo contents and limits to identify the trial in this guide. For campaign delivery rather than game progress, use missing linked gifts.
